Allegheny County has introduced an Emergency Rental Assistance Program to provide utility and rent relief to eligible residential customers who have past-due bills since March 13, 2020. Funds will be available until they run out or through Dec. 31, 2021.
HOW TO QUALIFY:
- Must be a renter in Allegheny County
- Household has at least one person who either qualifies for unemployment, has lost income or suffered financially due to COVID-19
- Household has at least one person who is at risk of experiencing homelessness if they don't receive assistance
- Household has a total income below 80% of the Area Median Income for Allegheny County
How will the program work?
DLC customers who are eligible can submit an application, which can be accessed here. If you don’t have online access, or need help filling out the application, you can contact ACTION-Housing by calling 412-248-0021.
Once received, the county will then screen and process applicants. If approved, DLC will be contacted and asked how much you owe since March 13, 2020. Only what is past due will
be provided. At this time, DLC will place a hold on collection action.
Once the payment is received, only what is due will be applied to the account. No credits will be provided. In addition to the program, customers in need can still apply for energy assistance grants.
***Customers will not have a hold placed on their account just for applying with the county.***
