On Tuesday, Sept. 12, 118 Duquesne Light employees participated in the annual United Way Day of Caring, which was established to promote volunteerism in communities throughout the country.
This year’s benefitting nonprofit organizations included Animal Friends, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Human Services Center Corporation, JAA Council Care, Jubilee Soup Kitchen, North Hills Community Outreach, St. Barnabas Health System, Southwestern Veterans Center, The Center and The Education Partnership.
Volunteer responsibilities during Day of Caring events ranged from packing supplies for local grade school teachers to preparing and serving a hot lunch to those in need.
In a thank you e-mail to Duquesne Light, Iris Grilho, Community Outreach & Office Coordinator at Human Services Center Corporation, said "I just want to reach out again and say thank you for all of your hard work today! We could not have completed our projects without your help. There simply are no words to express how much we appreciate all of you."
