Communications

Duquesne Light Company (DLC) provides a critical service to our community by keeping the lights on for our neighbors, hospitals, businesses and more. Our customers are important to us, and the Communications, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Giving departments provide the connection between our employees, customers and communities. This connection enables the company to bring our service to the next level. By leveraging our community relationships, the team makes it easier for DLC to perform essential work every day. 

Customer Service

As part of Duquesne Light Company’s mission to safely power – and empower – our customers’ lives, the Customer Service department works to facilitate a modern customer service model while fostering a customer-focused culture. This ongoing effort ensures that our customers receive professional, timely and quality service that ultimately makes it easier for them to do business with us.

In recognition of these efforts, Duquesne Light Company was presented with the prestigious J.D. Power Award for East Midsize Business Customer Satisfaction in 2017 and 2018, as well as a number of other accolades.

Engineering

From maintaining our overhead and underground equipment to protecting our critical infrastructure and so much more, Duquesne Light Company's operations department keeps the lights on and the grid intact. Our engineering department focuses on designing, building and maintaining the physical structures that safely deliver electricity from the power plant to your living room.

Finance/Accounting

Duquesne Light Company's finance department oversees our budget and finances so that we can effectively meet our goals and objectives – primarily, to provide safe, reliable electrical service throughout Allegheny and Beaver counties. This team maintains everything from an advanced billing system to $1 billion in infrastructure improvements.

Human Resources

Duquesne Light Company’s grid is connected with poles and wires, but it’s powered by people. Our Human Resources (HR) department is dedicated to supporting employees while simultaneously facilitating a team-centric environment that is conducive to providing superior service to our customers. HR partners directly with departments across the company for hiring needs, training and development, benefits and other programs affecting more than 1,700 employees.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT)

The Duquesne Light Company (DLC) IT group oversees and protects our critical information technology systems to ensure we can utilize the best technology in powering our customers' lives. The team works to support the needs of DLC's employees and its customers.

From troubleshooting daily technical issues to protecting the company's critical systems and collaborating with partners across the business on key technology implementations, IT plays a fundamental role in keeping business operations running smoothly while ensuring DLC remains innovative. 

Legal

Becoming a top-performing utility requires forward thinking, the ability to balance risk and strict compliance with ever-changing federal regulations, and strong governmental relations – which is where our legal team (known as the Office of General Counsel, or OGC) shines. 

The OGC leverages the synergies between legal, compliance, internal audit and enterprise risk management, collectively providing corporate services to DQE Holdings LLC, Duquesne Light Holdings, Inc. and its subsidiaries. 

Project Management

Every day Duquesne Light Company is tackling projects that make Pittsburgh and the surrounding area a better place to live. Our Project Management department develops ways to conduct business and improve the service and reliability within our service territory.

Some of these project areas include transmission and distribution, planning and building, vegetation management, and collaborating with other organizations to meet their unique needs. 

Safety & Environmental

The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team supports all departments across Duquesne Light Company (DLC) with environmental and safety-related strategy while continuously promoting the idea that, “the safest way is the only way."

This team conducts safety observations, participates in all incident investigations, performs DLC employees’ industrial hygiene testing, conducts safety and environmental training, performs site audits, communicates lessons learned, publishes monthly safety metric reports and serves as a team of experts for all safety and environmental questions and concerns.

Supply Chain

The mission of Duquesne Light Company's Procurement and Supply Chain (P&SC) team is to deliver innovative and cost-effective procurement and supply chain solutions for all departments consistent with equitable and socially responsible business practices. The P&SC team also focuses on mitigating risk during the supplier selection process and providing the company with traceable spend data.
