Duquesne Light has a long, rich history in the southwestern Pennsylvanian region. The work we do touches our communities in more ways than one, and we manage our environment in ways that are responsible, safe, and increase reliability for our customers.
We are investing in the communities we serve to make southwestern PA a healthy and vibrant region for our customers to live and work through organizational sponsorships and philanthropic giving. Examples include:
Involvement of Executive Leadership
Duquesne Light Holdings leadership participates in Sustainable Pittsburgh's CEOs for Sustainability. CEOs for Sustainability is exemplary executive leadership and collaboration to drive positive change in the region.
DLC is a strong supporter of the communities we serve. As a recent example, DLC is the leading corporate sponsor of the Allegheny Land Trust's Churchill Valley Greenway project, permanently protecting and preserving the land. The conservation of this land will provide a place for outdoor recreation, support wildlife and plant habitat, help mitigate flooding, and improve water quality in the area.
DLC supports the local environment with several tree planting projects and donations every year. With company donations and employee volunteers, DLC helps plant trees in the communities we serve. Some of our recent projects and recognitions include:
DLC is proud partner of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The “Duquesne Light Power Hitters” program donated one tree for every Pirate’s home run hit in the 2021 season.
DLC has been recognized with the Tree Line USA award by the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters for 19 straight years for adhering to vegetation management best practices within the utility industry.
DLC has a tradition of celebrating Arbor Day every year by hosting employee volunteer tree plantings.
