Third party load control programs may offer financial incentives to customers who voluntarily reduce their electricity use. These programs, if offered by third party companies, can vary from company to company and it is best to consult directly with companies that may be offering these programs.

Please fill out the form to connect or disconnect your HAN-enabled device and the smart meter at your address.  The entire form must be completed for all requests.   You will receive our response to your request at the email address you provide.  Please allow 3-5 business for your request to be reviewed and processed.  If you have questions regarding this program, contact Duquesne Light’s Customer Service Center at 1-866-797-5237.

As a Duquesne Light customer, if you are approved to participate in the 3rd Party Load Control Program, please note the terms and conditions outlined below will apply:

Duquesne Light Company (“Duquesne Light”) shall have no liability hereunder in connection with any non-compatibility of Your Home Area Network (“HAN”)-enabled devices with Duquesne Light’s smart meter system or other technology systems. Duquesne Light may modify any such systems at any time, in its sole discretion, which may render such devices inoperable with such systems. You agree to disclose this to purchasers and lessees of its premises if such purchase or lease includes any such devices, and further agree to accept any liability that may arise in connection with your failure to provide such disclosure(s). System modifications may require device changes by you, and/or retesting of such devices, to re-validate such devices. “HAN-enabled device” shall mean any device that is capable of being connected via a home or business area network to Duquesne Light’s smart meter system or other technology system.

Duquesne Light, its current and future parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, managers, shareholders, employees, agents, and representatives shall have no liability whatsoever for damages, losses, liabilities, expenses and costs (including reasonable outside and allocated in-house attorneys’ fees), whether consequential, indirect, direct or otherwise, and whether arising in connection with personal injury, property damage, data loss or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with Your HAN-enabled devices. Duquesne Light makes no representations or warranties, express or implied, as to the safety, reliability, performance, security, sufficiency of purpose, or efficiency of such devices.

You agree to promptly notify Duquesne Light if any HAN-enabled device is disconnected from the Duquesne Light’s smart meter system or other technology system. Such notification shall be made pursuant to Duquesne Light’s Third Party Load Control Program Description, and shall occur within one business day of disconnection. Additionally, Duquesne Light has the right to disconnect any HAN-enabled device, without notice, in its sole discretion if it believes in good faith that such device poses a current or potential risk to the performance, security, or integrity of its smart meter system, other technology systems, or its ability to provide safe and reliable electric service.

Duquesne Light reserves the right to modify or discontinue the Program, or cancel your participation therein, at any time.

Duquesne Light does not provide you with a load control device or any related equipment, any load control device questions should be directed to your third party load control company. Duquesne Light is not affiliated nor do we endorse any third party load control companies or devices.

“Customer” shall mean any Duquesne Light customer who requests to participate in the Program and selects you as service provider. Duquesne Light reserves the right to decline Customer requests to participate in the Program for any reason. Customers may end participation in the Program at any time. Duquesne Light shall have no liability associated with Customer enrollment, participation, or de-enrollment in the Program.

Duquesne Light has no obligation relative to the installation, operability, or maintenance of Customer-installed equipment. Duquesne Light cannot guarantee communication between such equipment and Duquesne Light’s systems.  Duquesne Light has the right to disconnect any such equipment, without notice, in its sole discretion if it believes in good faith that such device poses a current or potential risk to the performance, security, or integrity of its smart meter system, other technology systems, or its ability to provide safe and reliable electric service.

Duquesne Light may modify Program requirements or rules, or cancel the Program, upon 30 days’ notice.

The following apply to all third party program providers:

  • Events scheduled by third party providers will apply to all Duquesne Light customers registered with you as their third party and actively participating in the program.
  • One event per day is allowed.
  • Events can be scheduled up to 30 days in advance.
  • Events can be scheduled to occur on Mondays through Fridays.
  • Duquesne Light reserves the right to cancel scheduled events due to system issues or system maintenance.
