Competitive summer internship program highlights next generation of talent

PITTSBURGH – After receiving over 2,200 applications, Duquesne Light Company selected 40 interns who will help drive the region into the future. Representing 18 colleges and universities, these students will use their skills to work collaboratively with employees and teams throughout the company this summer.

Since the program’s inception, 19 of the previous interns were hired into full-time positions with the company.

“As a company focused on the future, we consistently seek out the next generation of talent,” said Todd Faulk, Vice President, Human Resources. “Our internship program allows talented students an opportunity to demonstrate and improve their skills. As the program increases in competitiveness, we are confident that we are recruiting the best and brightest in the region.”

Throughout this summer, the interns will work in departments across the company matching their respective fields of study. The company offers internship positions that fit a wide variety of students’ skills and backgrounds ranging from electrical and civil engineering to business intelligence and corporate applications.

The goal of the internship program is provide students with hands-on experience through meaningful and engaging assignments, as well as exposure to career paths and leadership opportunities with the company. Along with many of the company’s employees, the interns will also volunteer in service activities throughout the local community.
