Several members of Duquesne Light’s Search, Engage, Recruit, Veterans into Civilian Employment (S.E.R.V.I.C.E.) Committee recently volunteered at the Veteran’s Place of Washington Boulevard ‘Summer Stand Down’ event.

The event, which took place outside of the Veteran’s Place Service Center in Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood, was dedicated to helping local veterans in need. Veteran’s Place, in partnership with local organizations and volunteers, provides veteran attendees with a variety of services including housing, employment, wellness, legal support and other benefits.

Volunteers, including those from Duquesne Light, assisted by running a free clothing store and food bank and also served veterans lunch.

Congressmen Connor Lamb and Mike Doyle also attended the event to meet with the veterans and support the organizations present.

In addition to the ‘Summer Stand Down’ event, the Veteran’s Place of Washington Boulevard, hosts a variety of programs throughout the year in support of its mission to end homelessness among veterans in the Pittsburgh region.
