Duquesne Light Company and Nissan to Offer Electric Vehicle Incentives
Nissan LEAF discount available to all DLC customers and employees

PITTSBURGH – Duquesne Light Company (DLC) is continuing its effort to increase the number of electric vehicles (EV) on the road in the greater Pittsburgh area. Today, the company, in partnership with Nissan North America, Inc., announced an offer available to all customers and employees that could save thousands of dollars on the purchase of the popular all-electric LEAF.

Nissan is offering DLC customers and employees a $3,000 rebate off the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) on the 2018 LEAF. In addition to the manufacturer incentives, the purchaser could also qualify for up to $7,500 in federal electric vehicle tax credits and a $1,750 rebate through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Alternative Fuel Vehicle Rebate Program

“Electric vehicle popularity has grown exponentially over the years and we’re starting to see it gain momentum in our area,” said Joe DeMatteo, Director of Business Development, Duquesne Light. “This partnership is another example of DLC helping to raise awareness of EVs and promote the benefits of choosing an environmentally friendly mode of transportation.”

Depending on the model, the list price for the Nissan LEAF ranges from about $30,000 to $36,000.  The special rebate offer is available through June 30, 2018, or while supplies last.  To qualify for the savings, individuals should show their DLC utility bill to participating Nissan dealerships that are listed at nissanusa.com/nissandealers/

Why Drive Electric?

  • Save on fuel costs – driving electric can cut fuel costs by more than half
  • Reduce tailpipe emissions
  • Elevate driving performance – EVs offer a quiet yet powerful ride
  • Convenience – charge at home and avoid tune-ups and oil changes forever with an all-electric vehicle
  • Tax incentives – electric car owners are also eligible for up to $7,500 in federal tax breaks

Over the past year, DLC has undergone a transformation into a next generation energy company, which has involved the modernization of its infrastructure, implementation of enhanced technology, and launch of its official EV initiative. As part of this strategy, DLC has committed to electrifying its own fleet with plans to spend more than 20 percent of its fleet purchases on EVs in 2019. DLC’s current electric fleet includes nine compact passenger EVs, six plug-in hybrid bucket trucks and three electric forklifts.
