Duquesne Light has welcomed 34 local college students to its 2017 Summer Internship Program. DLC’s Internship Program, which began in 2015, is designed to provide interns with hands-on experience through meaningful and engaging work assignments. During their internships, students will have the chance to learn more about the Company and its various career path options.
Interns are joining DLC from a variety of diverse backgrounds, with students attending 19 different colleges or universities. This year’s participants were selected from a total of 1,520 applications.
“Our internship program continues to attract a very high caliber of young talent, and has become increasingly competitive since it first began,” said Todd Faulk, Vice President, Human Resources.
With a presence in nearly every department across DLC, the program provides interns with an opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed and grow professionally, which is mutually beneficial to both the Company and the interns. Since 2015, DLC has hired 10 interns to full-time positions.
Of the 34 interns joining Duquesne Light this summer, 27 are seniors and nine have elected to return for a second internship with the Company.
