At its recent annual employee Family Safety Day, Duquesne Light donated $50,000 to the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania as part of its ongoing efforts to give back to its community.

Duquesne Light President & CEO Rich Riazzi presented the check to the United Way in front of hundreds of Duquesne Light employees attending the company’s Family Safety Day. Accepting the check on behalf of the organization was United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania President & CEO Bob Nelkin.

The United Way donation was comprised of dollars raised at the Family Safety Day including vendor donations and raffle auction proceeds, as well as money donated by employees before and during the event. Duquesne Light proudly matched every dollar raised by employees and vendors—which doubled the dollar amount given to the United Way.

The money will help support the United Way of Southwestern PA in its mission to bring together the community in order to assist those in need with long-term solutions.

Beyond its employee Family Safety Day, the Company and its employees support the United Way of Southwestern PA throughout the year by volunteering their time and efforts at events such as the United Way’s annual Day of Caring.
