With temperatures recently dipping into the single digits, it’s more critical than ever to support those who are having difficulty paying their utility bills. To help with this important cause, Duquesne Light raised more than $25,000 during the Dollar Energy Fund’s fourth annual Cool Down for Warmth event on Jan. 25 – 26.

As part of the event, a house of ice was constructed in Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh. Participants from local companies stayed in the icy structure for 30 minutes as they worked toward reaching their minimum fundraising goal of $1,000 for an individual or $2,500 for a team. Once the goal was met, they could leave the house and “feel the warmth” again. All proceeds from the more than $200,000 raised benefit Dollar Energy Fund, and will help provide assistance for local families and individuals who struggle to restore or maintain safe utility service this winter.
