In an effort to support those in our local communities, approximately 60 Duquesne Light employee volunteers participated in the United Way Day of Action on Oct. 25. Volunteers had the option to participate in one of two projects:
- American Red Cross Sound the Alarm – Volunteers installed and tested 157 smoke detectors in 76 homes in McKees Rocks. They also worked their way down assigned streets to ask residents if they wanted a free smoke detector installed.
- Wesley Family Services/North Hills Community Outreach, Senior Safety Checks – Volunteers conducted safety checks in the homes of seniors throughout Pittsburgh.
Before the day began, volunteers met for a kick-off breakfast and training session led by the two organizations.
