In 2015, the Glassport Borough determined that building a new, freestanding police station was the best solution for replacing the community’s 100-year-old station. The new station, a modern one-story building, would provide the borough’s five full-time and 10 part-time police officers with an improved working environment, enabling them to more effectively perform their jobs.
Fast forward to 2016, the community broke ground on a new 2,100-square-foot police station behind the borough building. As progress on the station continued, Glassport Borough officials approached Duquesne Light for help with an unexpected expenditure of the electrical service hookup to the new building.
Under Charitable & Community Giving program, Duquesne Light awarded a grant for crews to perform the electrical work, which includes the installation of a 45-foot pole along with required wires, cable and transformer. Duquesne Light is pleased to continue its community outreach efforts by supporting Glassport Borough and its new police station.
