Substation Weed Prevention Program

The Substation Weed Prevention Program is an annual subscription service that provides customers with professional bare ground herbicide treatment at their substation. Through this program, a DLC approved contractor handles an annual weed ground treatment application to keep the site compliant. By maintaining a weed-free grounding area and ensuring unobstructed access to equipment, the service supports safe operations, reduces inspection issues, and helps protect the reliability of your substation.

Why are we offering this service?

DLC is offering this service to help customers maintain compliance with Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission quarterly inspection requirements. Maintaining the substation’s ground area free of vegetation not only supports ongoing compliance with safety standards but also helps prevent potential issues in the future. This program provides a proactive and convenient way to stay ahead of inspection findings.

We are committed to supporting a compliant, well‑maintained substation environment.

As the customer, you will have the opportunity to review and confirm the quality of the work performed at your substation. After each application, we will request your feedback on both the process and the results. Your input is essential in helping us maintain a consistently high standard of service.

Scheduling Treatment Service:

DLC will manage all aspects of service scheduling, including:

  • Coordinating substation access
  • Establishing service start times
  • Managing any required safety training specific to the customer’s facility

Because this work will be performed by a DLC-approved contractor, a DLC troubleshooter will not be required on-site during treatment.

Additionally, DLC will collaborate with the Substation Planning team to arrange access and select timing that best aligns with the customer’s schedule.

Pricing & Enrollment:

Treatments will be available throughout the fall, spring, and summer months to ensure optimal effectiveness and increased flexibility for customers.

Enrollment begins on the date of the initial treatment. For example, if a customer’s first treatment occurs on June 8, 2026, their enrollment will remain active through June 7, 2027.
