Fans of baseball know the brightest stars shine under the field lights. Duquesne Light Company (DLC) joins Pirates Charities in powering teams and athletes in the Greater Pittsburgh region.  

In addition to keeping the lights on at baseball diamonds across the region, Duquesne Light Company sponsors and partners with dozens of community organizations to serve as a trusted energy partner to all our customers. 

Our partnership provides funding to the Pirates Nike RBI Program, which focuses on increasing access and participation in baseball and softball in our underserved communities. 

More than 1,500 boys and girls receive access to special sports and learning experiences as part of the program, including access to special events at PNC Park. 

DLC’s vision of a larger than light, clean energy future for all includes our region’s youth as we power Pittsburgh sports. 

In 2023, DLC provided electronic bat sensors to Pirates Nike RBI Program players at no cost, thanks in part to Diamond Kinetics. These sensors show the science behind the sport – tracking things like barrel speed, impact momentum, acceleration and angle. 

“The support we have from the Pirates and from Duquesne Light, it gives us the ability to look forward, ahead of the game now,” explained Mt. Washington Assistant Softball Coach Brandy Wilkes. “These girls enjoy it. They love it and stay here as long as they can.” 

DLC and Pirates Charities continue to partner on initiatives that help energize our region. Duquesne Light is proud to sponsor not only the Pirates, but the city of Pittsburgh.
