Please note: All submitted engineering documents must be computer generated (no hand drawn submissions will be accepted).
Application Description & Fees
- Level 1 - Certified inverter based installations with aggregate rating 10 kW, AC or less - $100 Level 1 Interconnection Application
- Level 2 - Certified inverter based installations with aggregate rating 10 kW, AC to 2,000 kW, AC - $250 plus $1.00 per kW, AC. Levels 2, 3, or 4 Interconnection Application
- Level 3 - Non-Certified equipment 5,000 kW, AC or less that will export power to Duquesne Light Company - $350 plus $2.00 per kW, AC. Levels 2, 3, or 4 Interconnection Application
- Level 4 - Non-Certified equipment 5,000 kW, AC or less that will not export power to Duquesne Light Company - $350 plus $2.00 per kW, AC. Levels 2, 3, or 4 Interconnection Application

Documents can also be submitted via email to General Interconnection Inquiries on a case-by-case basis only.
Submissions can be made via U.S. Mail to the address below. Please ensure that all documentation is submitted on 8.5” x 11” paper.
Applications fees can either be mailed to the below address or can be made via DLC’s electronic payment site. For mailed payments, please be sure to include the “Attn” line.

- Level 1 Application
- Duquesne Light Co. will review for completeness and will either grant approval to install the system or explain why approval was not granted.
- The Company will provide a 6 digit work order number and 10 digit service point ID that must be provided to your electrician for documenting the receipt of the approved wiring inspection for the completed installation and to ensure your billing account is updated with the proper rate information (required)
- Level 2, 3, 4 Application
- The Company will review for completeness and may require additional information, depending upon the complexity of the design. If additional feasibility studies and modifications of the utility distribution system are required, the company will notify the applicant and provide estimated costs for such a study and/or modification. The company will then either grant approval to install the system or explain why approval was not granted.
- The Company will provide a 6 digit work order number and 10 digit service point ID that must be provided to your electrician for documenting the receipt of the approved wiring inspection for the completed installation and to ensure your billing account is updated with the proper rate information (required)
- The customer may install the system in accordance with the Duquesne Light Standards for Connection and the Interconnection Application/Agreement Terms and Conditions for Interconnection.
- The customer is responsible for having the system inspected by a qualified electrical inspector and ensuring the proof of inspection (wiring approval) is submitted to DLC
DLC will:
- Determine the need for a witness test
- Schedule a witness test if applicable, otherwise deemed waived by DLC
- Arrange for the installation of the appropriate metering for billing purposes
- Complete the documentation and authorize the interconnection of the installed system
- Arrange for Rider 21 status to be added to the customer's account
- Notify customer/contractor upon completion of interconnection application process
